How to keep your Marbella holiday home clean while you're abroad
A practical routine for owners who spend months away from their Marbella or Puerto Banús home: what to clean, how often, and how to know it's done.

Why an empty home still gets dirty
A house on the Costa del Sol doesn't stay clean just because nobody is living in it. Dust settles through closed shutters, salt air leaves a film on glass, and on hot days a closed home traps humidity and stale air.
The longer it's left, the bigger the job when you arrive — and the more likely you spend your first day of holiday cleaning instead of relaxing.
A simple rhythm that works
For most second homes, a full clean every two to four weeks keeps dust and humidity under control. Add an extra visit before you or your guests arrive, so beds are made, towels are fresh and the fridge is clean and ready.
Between visits, little things matter: leave interior doors open so air can move, and make sure nothing perishable is left in the kitchen.
What a visit should cover
Ask for the parts that suffer most when a home stands empty: floors, bathrooms, the inside of the fridge, kitchen cupboards, air-conditioning vents and interior windows. At Lavanda these are part of every clean, not extras.
If you rent the home out between your own stays, ask for a turnover clean instead, with linen changed and the home checked from top to bottom.
Knowing it's done, from wherever you are
The hardest part of owning from abroad is trust. Our cleaners check in when they arrive and send photos of the finished kitchen, bathrooms and living areas, so you can see the result without being there.
You can book online in English or Spanish; we confirm the final price for your property before the clean.
